Onward and upward!

As of Monday 7/20 I no longer employed to be a picture framer. I was "shown the door " as the Brits say. I've been a picture framer for over 15 years, so It feels very, very peculiar to not be framing any longer.  Hopefully I'll find a new framing gig soon!

But as "they" say.... "When one door closes, another one opens"
Here's hoping that the new door opens soon.

Below are few examples of my work. I've been handing out business cards left & right.. So hopefully a potential employer will like what I have to offer!

My friend Michelle, requisitioned a pendant / necklace sometime ago. An Infinity symbol, also known as a Leminscate.
Here is Michelle sporting my work. She is a beautiful backdrop for it

Peacock Guild !

Have glass cutter will travel

I've started repurposing used Snapple bottles to make drinking glasses!
But I decided to have a bit of fun afterward

My first attempt, freehand cutting the top off. It needs a lot of sanding & smoothing. But it's proof of concept!

Card Board is awesome!

Corrugated cardboard plus straight pins can make cool things!

Holy, Batarangs Batman!

I may mentioned that I like Batman..... But I mean, let's face it everybody likes Batman.

I took an old aluminum ruler and made Batman Begins style Batarang. I'm really pleased by how It came out!

On the left the is a older Batarang I made out of plexiglass a few years ago.
(Scroll back through an older blog entry)

Both of them throw really well.

Wire wrapped glass spheres

Ok, so "spheres" might be a bit pretentious. They're marbles! But cool lookin' marbles! They catch the light nicely, and look good swept up in wire. Like miniature planets caught in a net!

 *more abstract pieces coming soon!*

Zebra Print Dog Walking Hands Free Belt

I made this belt for my friend Michelle, and her 2 dogs Lou & Junior!
Almost 100' of paracord was used for it! 2,  1" steel rings are at each end, with a mountain climbing grade carabiner for a connector. The leashes can be clipped to the carabiner to be "hands free"

Donations, donations, donations!

My coworker Michelle volunteers at a Rescue. I had previously made her a paracord leash for one of her dog's Lou (red handkerchief)
The other one is Junior!

She wanted some simple leads for her pooches. I'm also going to make her a bunch of leads for the Rescue she volunteers at!
(pics to follow of more of my leashes in action)

Here's Junior breaking his in!

550lb paracord was used with a simple triple braided core and a "1/2" cobrastitch handle. With a 1" steel ring at the end for a slip knot!
